About SheBlogs
f
SheBlogs is an online resource for Labour Party activists, and particularly women who are new to the Party and who want to become more involved. It provides regular updates on news stories, as well as listing events and useful links.
SheBlogs is also developing a database of Labour women’s history, showcasing many of the women who helped to build the Labour Party into a national force from its late-nineteenth century roots. SheBlogs is edited by Kathryn Perera. It welcomes contributions from others who are interested in the Labour movement.

I am a feminist activist and historian. I tweet, a lot, at @kathrynperera
In my spare time I’m the national Communications Officer of the Labour Women’s Network and passionate about getting more women involved in politics at all levels. SheBlogs is a way of helping to achieve this by creating a space where women can learn more about the Labour Party and share ideas on both news stories and grass-roots activism.
I stood as Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate in my hometown of Aylesbury at the 2010 General Election. I was the first woman to do so. We fought a strong local campaign and had a hugely positive response from constituents. I remain active as the Vice-Chair of Aylesbury Constituency Labour Party (‘CLP’).
I practised as a barrister for a number of years, in employment and education law at 11KBW Chambers. I want to see legislators in the Houses of Parliament who scrutinise properly the legislation they are asked to pass and who hold this Coalition Government to account. That’s why you’ll find me supporting strong parliamentarians on this website and also in the articles I write for The Guardian, Labourlist, Progress, The Fabian Review and others.
I am a feminist and I have a deep-rooted commitment to working for equality between women and men in the UK on pay, pensions, poverty, justice and politics. I’m proud to be an elected trustee of the Fawcett Society and to help promote its work through my writing.
